Cloud IT Week in Review: Insider Threats, Data Breaches, CDW
Happy Saturday! Welcome back to the Week in Review, where we discuss all things Cloud IT. This week we saw a variety of topics covered, including insider threats, hackers and cloud planning. With that in mind, let’s take a look back at the past few days.
The week started off with the warning that your company may not be as safe from insider threats as you think. Cloud implementation and BYOD policies are great for convenience purposes, but they also open up a whole new avenue for data to end up in the wrong hands. A new report from Bitglass provides some valuable insights into the reality of insider threats, and shows that 74 percent of the surveyed organizations feel vulnerable. There are quite a few interesting statistics found in the report, and they can all be found HERE.
According to cybersecurity attorneys Leonardo M. Tamburello and Diane D. Reynolds, insider threats may be the least of your problems. The two believe that the Yahoo hack was just the beginning of bigger, more frequent data breaches. Much like with the previously mentioned insider threats, executives might not understand the true threat of hackers. Everyone has a tendency to assume that it will never happen to them…but it has to happen to somebody. To hackers, your business is an untapped venture that could hold valuable data for them to steal. You can find out more about this threat and what the two well respected attorneys think HERE.
Speaking of the cloud, it’s important to make sure that you’re using it correctly (or else you could end up fearing insider threats). That’s why CDW has announced its new Cloud Planning Services; its purpose is to help potential cloud users learn more about the cloud in general, but also offers more specific topics better related to how a user plans to put the cloud into play. You can read more about the services and seminars this solution offers HERE.
While a variety of topics have been highlighted here, that’s certainly not all that went on this week. Be sure to head to the Cloud IT homepage for all the updates, and come back next week for the latest insights. Have a great weekend!
